Do you remember the first time that you experienced the thrill of Synchronized Skating? The movement, the colors, the precision of the skaters as they flowed in unison?
How about the thrill of watching a family member or friend as they skated in seamless harmony with a dozen other skaters… or perhaps your memory of the cool breeze against your flushed face gliding the ice yourself?
If you do, you also will remember the hundreds of hours of rigorous training and practices. You will remember the leaps, and the falls, as you and your fellow team members moved closer and closer to your goal of being the best!
Since 2016, Beth Mason and her associates; Jim Haskins a renowned Virginia based sports photographer and Joe Epstein, an award-winning sports and journalism photographer based in New Jersey and Toronto based Nick Iwanshyn, have photographed Regional, National and World Synchronized Skating competitions. As a result this striking live-action photography ASSTA has built up a significant treasury of competitive galleries. Each gallery depicts in vivid detail the individual and team efforts of world class athletes at their finest moments.
After years of on-the-ice and from-the-rafters perspectives, we are opening the ASSTA Gallery to skaters and family members to peruse, purchase and treasure.
Our motivation has always been to advance the sport as the legitimate Olympic level competition that anyone who has experienced the coordination and combination of color, music and athletic achievement knows it is. This motivation is what has driven this project of documenting the ultimate team sport of Synchronized Skating.
We will be filling our on-line gallery over the next few months with hundreds of thrilling photographs stretching from the 2016 Eastern Regionals in Richmond, Virginia to the 2022 World Competition in Hamilton, Ontario. The cataloging of the photos is an extensive project, so we will be opening galleries in an incremental fashion. We will endeavor to organize the competitions as best as we can, but for now, skate through our gallery and leave your email information so we can inform you as new galleries or additional photos become available.
As you enjoy the photography, imagine the feel of the refreshing air, the
rhythms of the infectious music, the sound of ice skates cutting across the ice, the occasional excited squeals of the skaters and, of course, the cheers of the audience as they sit in awe experiencing one of the greatest exhibitions in the sports world!
